"We had a wonderful trip with Raj; the Annapurna circuit in 15 days. With Raj as a guide we could experience the Nepali way of trekking, off season and away from the crowds. With so many places closed, Raj still could easily find us fresh meals and a good place to sleep. He is a very flexible guide, decent and he takes excellent care of his customers". " I would like to recommend Raj Nepal as a one of the best trekking guide in Nepal.I went for a six day trek with him in the Annapurna region in December 2004. He is was always really helpful and I would definitely trust him to know what to do in an emergency. He also has great sence of humour and is a lot of fun to be with. Raj is really excellent. His English is great and really knowledge of whole things of the places where we visited. He also knew a lot of about the ethnic groups living in the mountains and he found a lot of opportunities for me to socialise with them and find out there way of life. Raj is a government accredited guide and he has 10 years of experiences of trekking in all Majour part of Nepal, like Annapurna, Langtang, Everest, Upper Mustang, Dolpo and more..." " We have just done the Annapurna Circuit with Raj Nepal as our guide. He was well organised, efficient and honest from the start. He had a great knowledge of the surroundings, including the mountains, wildlife and cultures of the area. He was very attentive and always looking after your best interest and health, shown also by the great standard of the porter he employed on our behalf, being well equipped, acclimatised and more than proficient in the role. We would recommend Raj to anyone wanting to trek with an independant guide rather than in a tour. He sorts out everything for you in advance, keeping in touch regularly during the planning stage. thompsonbenc@hotmail.com |

" Hi there, I would like to take this opportunity to recommend Raj Nepal, my great guide and friend in Nepal. We hiked, just the 2 of us, from Jiri to Everest which was a 22 day hike. He flawlessly guided me through the entire trek and showed me interesting things along the way that I would never have seen had I gone alone. He has a great sense of humour and we spent a great deal of the hike laughing at each other's jokes and cultural differences. He taught me many things along the way including information on flora and fauna and many Nepali words. He was an exceptional diplomat when dealing with the Maoist rebels and the Army that we met along the way. I would recommend Raj Nepal to anyone interested in trekking in Nepal, especially the Jiri-Everest route and the Annapurna Circuit.Considering Raj Nepal as your guide to some of the most beautiful areas on earth! "I trekked from Lukla to Base Camp, across the Chola Pass and around Gokyo in the Everest region with Raj (Oct 3 - Oct 17 2007), and I had a thoroughly good experience. Raj is friendly, knowledgeable (on subjects ranging from Nepali geography to politics), and helpful. He also has a good sense of humor - a trait that comes in handy on any Himalayan trek. I got sick from the altitude right off the bat, in Phakding, and without Raj's aid, encouragement and positive outlook I might not have made it. Thankfully my strength returned and I went on to have a great trek. By the time I was done Raj was a friend as well as I guide, and back in Kathmandu I celebrated the Hindu Dashain festival with him and his family. Raj Nepal has trekked all over Nepal, including some of the restricted areas and roads less travelled. If you're looking for a trekking guide, give Raj a try and I promise you won't be disappointed." Hi, Just wanted to pass some advice onto fellow travelers / trekkers. My boyfriend and I just finished doing the Everest Base Camp trek (13 days) and I wanted to recommend our guide, Raj Nepal. Raj was extremely knowledgeable about the region we were trekking in (he has trekked all over Nepal though so I'm sure the same is true of other regions.) He also had a lot of experience with AMS, which was very comforting to us, especially as my boyfriend started feeling ill towards our highest point. Luckily we made it to 5600m without incident. He was great company on the trek, happy to share his views and knowledge about Nepalese culture, politics etc and lots of craic in the evenings as well teaching us Nepalese card games and generally keeping us entertained. All of the accommodation we stayed in was of a high standard and he always made sure we were well fed, including bringing fresh fruit for us from Kathmandu in his pack and doling it out along the trail. (A real treat at that altitude and we didn't see any other guides doing it either.) He also provided afternoon tea and biscuits. It was an all inclusive package (accommodation, food, guide & porter - pay for your own alcohol and desserts) and his rates were extremely competitive, especially considering the really high cost of food in the Everest region. His treatment of our porter, Tek, was also excellent. Before we left for the trek he helped us rent any equipment we needed for excellent rates. By the end of the trek we considered Raj our friend, not just our guide. He brought us to his house where he cooked us a delicious dinner and introduced us to his family. We will definitely avail of his services again when we return to Nepal to do another trek, except next time he has invited to stay in his house and not in a hotel in Kathmandu. I know choosing a guide is a big decision, we agonized over it ourselves and were really nervous about how it would turn out. As it turned out we were really lucky to have come across Raj. We've traveled to 16 different countries over the last 12 months, the Everest trek is one of the best things we did and Raj had a lot to do with that. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Happy trekking! Lydia Murphy |

"We have just returned from our second trek in Nepal. First time, we did the Annapurna circuit in 2001, and this time we did the Everest region. We have seen a lot of guides while travelling in Nepal and he is certainly one of the most competent we saw. Not only is he professional and efficient, he is also very friendly. One thing you have to consider is that, when you go trekking, you are on holiday and the experience is supposed to be fun. So, it is very important for me to have a friendly guide and someone who has a good sense of humour. We had lots of laughs with Raj.
But, when the time comes to be careful, he will take the greatest care so you can feel secure. He will always be aware of your needs and care for your health and safety.
Finally, he is very knowledgeable about the culture and geography of the region. We strongly recommend this guide to anyone who wants to have a good time in Nepal." morency@videotron.ca, Quebec, Canada. |

"We would like to write a short note to say thanks to you for organizing our trip, and to encourage other travelers to Nepal to use Independent trekking guide of Nepal (Raj Nepal). We did the Everest Base Camp trek in early October 2008, but only had 15 days due to work commitments – Mr. Raj set-out a personalized schedule for us which allowed us to take in all of the sights, reach Base Camp and get back safely. But that's not all - our flight was cancelled from London, which lost us a day of our trip. At a time when we were pretty stressed, and fearing that our already tight time frame would jeopardize our trip, Mr. Raj was fantastic and re-organized everything (airport pickup, hotel in Kathmandu, rearranged flight to Lukla, change the trekking schedule and accommodation).I would like to recommend him as a fantastic professional independent guide for Nepal trip. Happy trekking" Lali and Deniel |

"From my recent trip I heard there were far less tourists these last few months than previous years. I went late Nov 2008 and although there were some, for a peak month the volume was very light. Expect it even lighter in the winter months. Weather expect cold as it's winter. Stick to base layers and warm sleeping bags are a must even as low as namche. We haven't had delays at lukla, but it's the mountain..anything can and will happen. So give yourself plenty of room and extra days. My guide was "Raj Nepal" and he came with his own porter (independent). Both of them were very friendly and 'well connected'. I would like to say one thing he is the best guide of Nepal.I was a few days early for my scheduled lukla flight and with in a few hours I was rescheduled on the next flight out...even tho the airport was busy as hell and lodges were packed. I would like to recommend Raj Nepal. I was trekking with him in Annapurna region in March 2011 and it was one of the most memorable trips I’ve ever done. I wanted to do more than just a standard itinerary that seemed too slow for me. He was sensibly cautious about stretching it too much, but was flexible and came up with some good ideas about enriching the standard trip. His English is really good and he can be an entertaining companion during the trip. He knows the area and the local people and what to expect/not expect at any particular village or hotel. He is a reliable and professional guide with whom all the things (from the pass permits to a missing phone charger or a cold room) are being looked after and resolved effortlessly so that you don’t even notice it. His most favorite and well traveled area is Everest, but he does and knows well all Nepal and can do Tibet as well. I myself is going to Everest base camp next February, and planning to use him again. He can be contacted by email: vishmanepal@hotmail.com or by his mobile: 0977-9851051658 Please feel free to contact me if you need additional info: nveinberg@gmail.com Natasha, Australia |

I just finished a Jiri to Gokyo to Chola Pass trek with Raj Nepal. He is a really nice guy, knowlegable and a great guide. If you're looking for a guide don't hesitate to get in touch with him. Also the Jiri part of the trek is cuturally very interesting, though hard work, so maybe worth considering instead of flying straight to Lukla. Ed, U.k |
